SUNGOD SKATING CLUB 2023 ICE SHOW - PRINCIPAL ROLE AUDITIONS

The Sungod Skating Club will be hosting auditions for the principal roles in their upcoming Ice Show, Arabian Nights, the Story of Aladdin on Ice.  The ice show will take place Saturday, 04^th March 2023 ( Afternoon and Evening Performances ).

These auditions are open to any of our club skaters who are currently competing in the Star 5 or above categories.

The auditions will take place on Tuesday 22^nd November 2022 at the Sungod Arena from 8:00 – 9:00 pm.

The principal roles and descriptions of their characters are as follows:

Aladdin
A poor boy who finds a magical Genie. He wishes to be a prince so he can marry Princess Jasmine.

Jasmine
A princess who wants to see the world outside the palace. She meets Aladdin in the market and falls in love.

Genie
Lives in a lamp and wishes for freedom. Aladdin discovers Genie in the Cave of Wonders.

Jafar
The Sultan’s advisor. The Sultan trusts Jafar, but Jafar is evil. He wants to become the Sultan and marry Princess Jasmine.

Abu
Aladdin’s cheeky side-kick. He is a monkey.

Raja
Jasmine’s pet tiger and protector.

Iago
Jafar’s helper. He does what Jafar tells him to do. He is a parrot.

The Sultan
The ruler of the Kingdom. Princess Jasmine is the Sultan’s daughter.

Dalia
Dalia is Jasmine’s handmade and confidante.

How the auditions will work:   The skaters will be grouped with 4 – 6 skates per group.

Each skater will have a number posted on the front of their bodies that will allow the guest judges to track the skaters without having to know their names.

There will be a panel of 2 guest judges together with the Ice Show Director and Assistant Director to assist with the judging of the auditions.

All auditions will be run under improv arrangements.  Skaters will hear the music they will perform to just once before they are required to skate a 1-minute improvisation to that piece of music.  They will perform this at the same time with all of the skaters in their group.

Music selections will vary for each group so that no one skater is at an advantage over another.   Each group will perform 3 separate improvisation pieces over the course of the auditions, providing the judging panel ample opportunity to view all of the skaters in each group.

The last part of the auditions, may require specific skaters to re-skate an improvisation with selected skater(s) from a different group.

Music will be selected from the following themes:

Lyrical
Dance ( Hip Hop / Disco / Arabic )
Dramatic
Show Tunes

Results of the auditions will be posted in the December club newsletter on December 01^st 2022.

If you are a current Star 5 and above level skater and you wish to participate in these auditions, please ensure you register online by clicking HERE or by selecting the "Ice Show" season from Uplifter's registration page. no later than Friday 18^th November at 11:59 pm. Late registrations will not be accepted so please ensure you register on time.
