NO ICE... NO PROBLEM Junior Virtual Off-Ice Club Competition

The entry fee of $25 will include the purchase of a T-shirt with the events’ logo.

The full schedule for this event will be released directly after the closing date of Friday 29th May 2020.  A running order for registered participants will be released on Wednesday 17th June 2020.

This will be the first time the Sungod Skating Club has hosted a virtual online competition of this nature.  The objective behind this venture is to provide the skaters currently training in an online environment to have the experience of competition with others as well as providing a vehicle towards the promotion and motivation of that training.  It is our intent that they have something to look forward to, have online interaction with skaters in their club and put reason and motivation behind their current training arrangements.


Brief Description of Skills & Exercises for Junior category:

  1. Jumping Jacks in 1 minute: total number of full Jumping Jacks completed in 1 minute.
  2. Push Up plank with hand taps: total number completed in 30 seconds.
  3. Sit Ups in 30 seconds: total number of full sits ups completed in 30 seconds.
  4. Wall Squat: once correct position is obtained skater will be timed for how long they hold with no adjustment/wobble in positioning.
  5. Loop + Loop combination: height, positioning and control with landing position held for 4 seconds.
  6. Back & Fourth Cartwheel: total number of cartwheels completed consecutively with no delay or adjustments made in-between each cartwheel. Cartwheels to be performed back and forth on the spot.
  7. 3 Position Spiral Sequence: free choice in positioning but all 3 positions must be executed on the same foot, free leg must not touch down om floor in-between each position and each position to be held for 5 seconds. No repeat of positions ( all 3 must be different )
  8. 30 second freestyle dance routine: must be performed to music.

Competitors will be required to perform at least 2 – 3 skills/exercises per day over the full 3 days when competing in this event. 

This event has been devised and designed as a means of keeping our skaters involved and motivated towards their training during the Covid-19 ice rink closures.

  5. Consecutive 1A: most consecutive single axels in a row ( no additional steps in-between ).
  6. Camel + Sit + Upright Spin: to be completed in skates with 5 second holds in each position as well as 5 second hold in landing position at end of spin.
  7. Wall handstand: timed for how long skater can hold handstand with no adjustment/wobble in positioning.
  8. 30 second freestyle dance routine: must be performed to music.


Competitors will be required to perform at least 2 – 3 skills/exercises per day over the full 3 days when competing in this event.

  1. Somersault push-ups in 1 minute: back somersault kick out into push up followed by forward somersault into vertical jump-up. Total completed in 1 minute.
  2. Sit Ups in 1 minute: as many sit-ups completed in 1 minute. ( elbow to knees technique )
  3. ½ rotation split jumps in 30 seconds: as performed in dryland jump classes where skater performs side split with no rotation followed by forward split with ½ rotation for a total of 30 seconds.
  4. Single leg wall squat: once correct position is obtained skater will be timed for how long they hold with no adjustment/wobble in positioning.
  5. Consecutive 1Lo + 2Lo combination: each loop can only be separated by no more than 2 pirouettes in-between.
  6. Combination spin positioning: Must be a change foot combination spin with 2 different positions on each foot.  Positions can be repeated and each different position must be held for 8 seconds.
  7. Freestanding handstand: timed until skater touches down with foot/feet.
  8. 30 second freestyle dance routine: must be performed to music.

  6. Level 4 Spin Positioning: must be performed in their skates and each position held for 10 seconds.
  7. Freestanding handstand: timed until skater touches down with foot/feet.
  8. 30 second freestyle dance routine: must be performed to music. If you choose to opt out of doing the 30 second dance routine you will not be included in the judging for the overall best dance award. In place of the dance routine you must execute a series of skills including 1 jump ( of which must be a double axel or a triple jump ), 1 level 4 spin holding each position for 10 seconds each, 1 field move and one acrobatic move ( cartwheel, somersault, back flip, no-hand cartwheel…etc. ). Technical routine does not require music.
    Note: Judging of element 8 of the elite category will be split evenly between the number of athletes in each chosen part ( number of athletes who chose dance routine and number of skaters who choose to do the technical routine ).

Competitors will be required to perform at least 2 – 3 skills/exercises per day over the full 3 days when competing in this event.
